Strawberries are so cheap and so gorgeous at the moment!

This Thursday, I love… strawberries

How good are the strawberries right now?! It’s ridiculous! The other day I bought 3 punnets for $5 and they were juicy and beautiful and tasty. In fact, that’s them there ->>

I adore strawberries. I think they are my favourite fruit, although I did have a massive obsession with persimmons a while back. In high school I actually tried to start my own nickname as being Strawberry, I think a grand total of 2 people actually ended up calling me that and primarily because I was always putting on layer after layer of strawberry flavoured body shop lip balm Continue reading »

This Thursday, I love… chocolate!

I am pretty amazed I’ve got this far with this blog and not yet done a TILT on chocolate! I adore chocolate. Right now I’m eating yoghurt, but I’m dreaming of chocolate. With the exception of any that contain caramel, I will eat every chocolate bar and every chocolate kind you can think of, and I will love them all. White, milk, dark, give it to me!!

My favourite is milk, and my favourite favourite is Lindt Lindor balls. Oh my giddy aunt, they are amazing. Continue reading »

My minty nails

This Thursday, I love… Mint!

I have previously written about my love for mint the flavour so it’s only fitting I’m also going through a bit of a mint colour phase as well. So far I’ve only been able to get my hands on mint nail polish (and that was courtesy of my beautiful colleague who bought it for me after hearing me mention I wanted some) but the other night I saw an ad for coloured jeans at $25 each for 2 or more pairs, so I’m seeing mint jeans in my future!

If you’re unsure on how to wear mint jeans, check out this handy mint multiple choice over on Fox In Flats. And while you’re there you may as well check out this guest post I did recently about making your manicures last longer. Oh yeah and this one. ;)

Are you feeling mint? Is it the hot new colour?

Porridge at the cafe

This Thursday, I love… porridge.

Over the last month I’ve been having a bit of a love affair with porridge. It’s warm, filling, lowers cholesterol (although perhaps not when you cover it in brown sugar like I do) and it’s one of the few ways I can get some fruit into Husband.

It started when I was in our regular cafe for breakfast and declared I really felt like porridge. I had some, Husband tasted mine, and we both fell in love. Shortly afterward I was at home sick and my mother came over to feed me and teach me how to make it. I’ve made it a few times now but Husband has it perfected (he’s a much better cook than me) and we’ve been having it for dinner about once a week since.

I don’t even know why I love it, to be honest. It’s glue, it’s gruel! There’s no logical reason for oats and water and milk to be so delicious but damn it, it is.

This would be my perfect office

This Thursday, I love… reorganising.

Let’s be honest here, I’m a few fries short of a happy meal. So I will freely admit that sometimes the things I love aren’t entirely logical, and might piss other people off. But I can’t help myself! It’s my nature! I just love reorganising!!

Contrary to popular belief, I don’t hugely like organising. And I really hate putting a bunch of stuff away into a room that’s completely clear of stuff because I really believe my ideal house would be one with nothing but a bed, a sofa and television. Completely and totally clear of everything else. But once there is stuff there’s nothing I love more than throwing most of it out and reorganising everything into a perfectly organised nirvana. This Thursday, I love… Now and Then

In the wake of the news 90s coming-of-age teen flick Now and Then is going to be revived into a TV show, penned by the same author, I thought I would share both my disappointment and my love for the movie.

Growing up I adored this movie. I was introduced to it by a friend of mine, and the two of us then decided that riding bikes, wearing flannel shirts and listening to 70s music was now the height of sophistication. To this day I know every word to every song on that sound track, even though at the time a lot of it didn’t make sense to me (“Now that you’re gone all that’s left is a band of gold” hits me right in the goolies these days as opposed to me thinking it had something to do with a crown). I was convinced that taping my non-existent boobs and playing softball would somehow make Devon Sawa magically appear and fall in love with me. Desperate to prove that I could somehow become Roberta, despite so obviously extremely closely resembling Teeny. Continue reading »

Breakfast out

This Thursday, I love… eating out.

One of the things I hated most about buying a house was tightening my belt. Especially when that meant cutting down on eating out. I love eating out. I love going out to restaurants. I love the atmosphere, being able to sit opposite someone and have a really good chat. And, let’s be honest here, I love not having to cook or do dishes afterward.

I love everything about eating out. I love that food always seems to taste better when it’s made by someone else, and the way I can get what I feel like instead having to look up a recipe, buy the ingredients and then manage to end up with enough food to feed 6 people even though the recipe was meant for 4… Went a bit off topic there.

These days we go out to eat breakfast every week. Why? Because it’s fun to eat out, and a hell of a lot cheaper to eat breakfast.

This Thursday, I love… round the twist.

After lamenting recently that there are no quality kids TV shows left on telly, I figured I may as well bring back the ones I loved for Stepdaughter. As I write this we’re watching Episode 3 of the first season and she is staring at the telly, completely transfixed. Continue reading »

The t-shirt I bought for $30, original price $168... Pay no attention to the man in the mirror.

This Thursday, I love… sales

Have you noticed that lately everywhere seems to be having sales all year round? Right now it’s the end of financial year, so we expect sales, but walk into any store at any time of the year and there always seems to be something on sale. Especially David Jones. David Jones seem to have a perpetual sale.

At any rate, I love sales. Sometimes I take a leaf out of Mia Freedman’s book on twisted shopping logic and figure that if the top used to be $168 and it’s only $30, then really I have just made a profit of $138. Go me! And, on a cost per wear basis, my hair is practically free! I wear it every day!

That’s a true story, by the way, Continue reading »

One of Husband's creations: Peanut butter and chocolate.

This Thursday, I love… cookies.

You might feel the urge to correct me to say I love biscuits, but no, I love cookies. I enjoy the word cookie, I like the song, I like cookie cutters and I love cookies. In fact, I love cookie cutters so much I was given a set of them as a wedding present, because I just love cookies.

My favourite cookies are chocolate chip, chocolate and gingerbread. Mmm. Tasty. One year I made gingerbread men as Christmas presents for all my friends and family.

I’m married to a man who quite enjoys the odd baking escapade Continue reading »
