It wasn’t too long ago I wrote about being unsure of the future of this blog. And while I still am, I would like to do a little catch up on my last few weeks in pictures. For ease of layout, these will be 3 big collages. I’ve also been thinking a lot about whether or not this blog should stay as it has been. In the past I have run Tuesday Tips and Things I Love Thursday as well as opinion pieces. Well, all my opinions are residing over on KiKi & Tea now, so perhaps this should just be stories about my life…

This week is all out of whack as I had off Thursday and Friday, then when I tried to upload my week in pics yesterday it wouldn’t work. So I’m a day late, but here it is!

This week I wrote about:

And on to the week in pics…

Lionel caught a lizard, so we got him a name tag and tried to find a bell. Really hard to find a bell that isn't coloured or shaped like some kind of cartoon character. Then I found this collar, with a bell, for $4. Just cut the bell off it!

Strawberries are so cheap and so gorgeous at the moment!

This Thursday, I love… strawberries

How good are the strawberries right now?! It’s ridiculous! The other day I bought 3 punnets for $5 and they were juicy and beautiful and tasty. In fact, that’s them there ->>

I adore strawberries. I think they are my favourite fruit, although I did have a massive obsession with persimmons a while back. In high school I actually tried to start my own nickname as being Strawberry, I think a grand total of 2 people actually ended up calling me that and primarily because I was always putting on layer after layer of strawberry flavoured body shop lip balm Continue reading »

Dinner tonight

Today’s Tip: It’s OK to take time off from life, every once in a while.

Tonight we ate toast for dinner. No, I’m not sick. Yes, we do have food in the house. We just couldn’t be bothered. My day sucked, I was off my game, I made a few silly mistakes and I don’t often make mistakes at work. So when it came time to have dinner, I just couldn’t face anything more than toast.

It’s nice to be on top of things all the time but sometimes, just sometimes, you have to give yourself permission to just stop, give up, and not care for a minute. Not every meal needs to be nutritious. Not every night has to be special. Not every moment has to be full and, honestly, if you let something slide by a few times it’s highly likely nobody will even notice.

Take time off, every once in a while. It’s OK.

This week things have been looking up. Nothing particularly bad happened, no cats died and I got to spend time with my brother.

On KiKi & Tea this week I wrote about:

I put up shelves in my garage! And by *I* clearly I mean my brother did it while I tried to be helpful (and got in the way)

It’s been a week of ups and downs… That’s a lie, it’s been a week mostly of downs. So, even though it’s out of chronological order, my first pic will be the flowers at the cafe this morning.

This week I wrote about:

This Thursday, I love… chocolate!

I am pretty amazed I’ve got this far with this blog and not yet done a TILT on chocolate! I adore chocolate. Right now I’m eating yoghurt, but I’m dreaming of chocolate. With the exception of any that contain caramel, I will eat every chocolate bar and every chocolate kind you can think of, and I will love them all. White, milk, dark, give it to me!!

My favourite is milk, and my favourite favourite is Lindt Lindor balls. Oh my giddy aunt, they are amazing. Continue reading »

I’m sick as I write this, lying in bed convinced I’m dying of the plague (in reality I have a cold. But it’s a bad one!) so I’ll keep the captions fairly brief.

As always, the week began with breakfast out.

This week has been my first week in my new role. Lots of learning, although some of it I already know which is good. I decided this week would be the week for everything to go well, so I started it with spring cleaning on Sunday. Fairly unusual for me, I will admit, but the results have made me so happy coming home! But I’ll get to that later… on to the week in pics!

Porridge at the cafe

This Thursday, I love… porridge.

Over the last month I’ve been having a bit of a love affair with porridge. It’s warm, filling, lowers cholesterol (although perhaps not when you cover it in brown sugar like I do) and it’s one of the few ways I can get some fruit into Husband.

It started when I was in our regular cafe for breakfast and declared I really felt like porridge. I had some, Husband tasted mine, and we both fell in love. Shortly afterward I was at home sick and my mother came over to feed me and teach me how to make it. I’ve made it a few times now but Husband has it perfected (he’s a much better cook than me) and we’ve been having it for dinner about once a week since.

I don’t even know why I love it, to be honest. It’s glue, it’s gruel! There’s no logical reason for oats and water and milk to be so delicious but damn it, it is.
