It wasn’t too long ago I wrote about being unsure of the future of this blog. And while I still am, I would like to do a little catch up on my last few weeks in pictures. For ease of layout, these will be 3 big collages. I’ve also been thinking a lot about whether or not this blog should stay as it has been. In the past I have run Tuesday Tips and Things I Love Thursday as well as opinion pieces. Well, all my opinions are residing over on KiKi & Tea now, so perhaps this should just be stories about my life…

It’s been a week of ups and downs… That’s a lie, it’s been a week mostly of downs. So, even though it’s out of chronological order, my first pic will be the flowers at the cafe this morning.

This week I wrote about:

And on to the week in pics…

My minty nails

This Thursday, I love… Mint!

I have previously written about my love for mint the flavour so it’s only fitting I’m also going through a bit of a mint colour phase as well. So far I’ve only been able to get my hands on mint nail polish (and that was courtesy of my beautiful colleague who bought it for me after hearing me mention I wanted some) but the other night I saw an ad for coloured jeans at $25 each for 2 or more pairs, so I’m seeing mint jeans in my future!

If you’re unsure on how to wear mint jeans, check out this handy mint multiple choice over on Fox In Flats. And while you’re there you may as well check out this guest post I did recently about making your manicures last longer. Oh yeah and this one. ;)

Are you feeling mint? Is it the hot new colour?

Well it was a busy weekend last weekend and it’s been a pretty busy week around here. Not least as I’m moving into a new role soon so I’ve been winding up things in this role ready for a new person to start, and preparing to move office and get stuck in to my new role. Currently feeling a bit like I’m in limbo, to be honest with you!

My mother has also gone away to PNG for 8 weeks for work. I can’t tell you how relieved I will be when she gets home. So without further adieu, here is my week in pics…

Had a meet up with a bunch of girls from twitter (including 2 of the writers on KK&T) and locked ourselves out... I volunteered to break in.

Last week’s Life Porn post made me feel a little warm and fuzzy inside as people liked it and responded to it either here, facebook or twitter, so I thought I’d do it again! This time, however, I’ve been advised not to use the phrase “life porn” as that makes it a little less work-friendly… Oh, oops, I’ve done it again!

Well, this time for the title I’ve gone with “Whip”, which to me conjures a few things. The first is working in promotional products when we’d talk about our WIP (Work In Progress), which also reminded me of having a WIFLE (What I Feel Like Expressing) at the start of every meeting. Which I was in favour of until one day I ate something at a meeting and someone felt like expressing that that was inappropriate (oops).

It also is short for Week In Pics, which I know doesn’t contain an H but I can’t write WIP without thinking of that promotional products company.

I took soup in to work but it didn't defrost, so I served myself a cube of soup.

My pastel nails, Revlon Minted and OPI Alpine Snow

This Thursday, I love… pastel nails.

This season I am adoring pastel nails. Nails are by far the cheapest and most effective way to take your outfit from being OK to being bang on trend and this winter the trend is all about pastels. Pastel nails are a great pick-me-up to the dark colours traditionally worn in winter, or with the whites/creams/neutrals I tend to favour in winter, and they go with everything. Even when they don’t.

I mentioned this to a colleague earlier this week and the next day she had bought me a mint green nail polish. I am loving it, and I’m super duper touched she thought to do this. What a lovely gift! So while my nails are rocking the mint green and white, here are some other pastel nails for inspiration.

I’ll admit it – I’ve neglected you, my little blog. I’m sorry. I really am! I’ve just been so flat out with work, home and my other website, KiKi & Tea, that I’ve forgotten about you a little bit. Can we still be friends?

Lately I am loving reading blogs about other people’s lives. I love reading about opinions, and have spent many a moment reading articles about real issues, but sometimes it’s nice to switch off and admire someone else’s life for a moment. Particularly people who have really pretty, stylish, lives. With their super organised kids, their fun activities and their clean homes. At the moment I’m particularly in love with this brand new blog by my (online – although I hate making that distinction because online is just as real) friend Karen who recently lost 22kg (I know! Amazing, right?) and who has such a beautiful, happy, organised life.

One of my other favourites is Thrify Decor Chick which makes me believe I, too, could be a fantastically talented thrifty decor chick and build window seats and crap if only I applied myself… but instead I will lie on the couch with my arm trapped by a cat who is overexcited about receiving attention (even if that attention is just me moving her slightly so I can still reach my keyboard) and feel guilty that I’m not applying myself in a more meaningful way to filling my house will all the organisational tools created by Kikki.K and planning out every single detail of my day.

I have to admit, I love these blogs for the ideas they give me, but it’s more than that. I love them because it’s like looking at life porn. Continue reading »

Today’s Tip: Moisturise!!

Lately the weather has been gross, rain, cold, blazing sun, hot, it’s unpredictable and we just can’t win.

There is one guaranteed prediction for all these changes in the weather, though, and that is that your skin will get dry! Your lips are going to chap, your legs will get scaly and your finger beds will be disgraceful.

“So how do we prevent this, oh wise T” you ask? Easy! Moisturise!! Every time you think of it, get some lip balm on those lips, get some hand cream on those hands and some moisturiser on those arms and legs. My current obsessions are Jurlique Love Balm for lips, cuticles and elbows and Jurlique Rose Hand Cream (both courtesy of Linzi! Thanks!) for those dry hands. I have a wonderful spray on moisturiser by Nutrimetics that I like to use on my legs. For my face, it’s Steam Cream (I’m obsessed). Continue reading »

This Thursday, I love… OPI Big Apple Red

My mother in law (aka. Mum2.0) gave me an OPI miniatures pack called “Best Of The Best” for Christmas and while this pack contained 10 nail polishes, including Lincoln Park After Dark and Russian Navy, both of which I’ve had my eye on for ages it was Big Apple Red that caught my eye. Apparently it caught my eye pretty well as I am currently on day 25 of wearing it continuously. Continue reading »

This Thursday, I love… BYS Nail Polish

The other day I was in K-Mart. I know, how glam! Aren’t you jealous? So I’m in K-Mart having a bit of a sneaky peak at their makeup range. Some incredibly bright nail polish caught my eye. I had a look and the BYS range was absolutely incredible. Brights, neons, glitter, matte, chrome, metallic, cracked, mirror finish. Oh my! But the thing that really got me was the sign that said all nail polish $4.

Bargain! So I did what any self-respecting person would do – I bought 5, therefore rendering the amount saved completely null and void. Continue reading »
