Strawberries are so cheap and so gorgeous at the moment!

This Thursday, I love… strawberries

How good are the strawberries right now?! It’s ridiculous! The other day I bought 3 punnets for $5 and they were juicy and beautiful and tasty. In fact, that’s them there ->>

I adore strawberries. I think they are my favourite fruit, although I did have a massive obsession with persimmons a while back. In high school I actually tried to start my own nickname as being Strawberry, I think a grand total of 2 people actually ended up calling me that and primarily because I was always putting on layer after layer of strawberry flavoured body shop lip balm (remember that stuff? Smelt like hubba bubba). In fact Strawberry was just one of my many failed nicknames over the years – the only one that has ever stuck that I was happy with (Tam, Tams, Tammy and Tantrum all stuck around for a long time, even though I hate them) has been T.

Anyway, back to strawberries. Did you know that strawberries are high in antioxidants, vitamin C, magnesium, potassium and are sometimes called a “cancer fighting food”? But mostly they’re just super delicious and don’t leave me feeling a bit guilty (or a bit sick) when I consume a packet in one sitting. Not like another of my nicknames, the delicious Tim-Tam.

Not too ridiculous, it is the start of the season, best time to eat them. I can’t say I’m a huge strawberry fan, I adore raspberries. Although, a sunwarmed strawberry fresh off the plant is a pretty spectacular thing. My husband’s grandmother has an enormous garden, and has hundreds of strawberry plants. She ate 2 kilos in one week last year!

We bought a massive punnet from COSTCO the other week. They were massive and just delicious. I’m completely on the strawberry train with you T.
